Radiofrequency Ablation of Kidney Cancer

Radiofrequency ablation can be used to treat renal cell carcinoma, which is the most common form of kidney cancer. Radiofrequency ablation of the kidney is generally reserved for patients who have only one functional kidney or are not surgical candidates. In addition, radiofrequency ablation can be used to treat cancer from the kidney that may have spread to other organs such as the lungs or liver.
